Summer Music at FAN

This term has seen lots of musical activities in the school and community.

National Make Music 21 June saw our first outside Rock Concert. Two Bands performed at lunchtime. They did incredibly well and were well received. The Rock Band was formed by Terry Bunting our guitar teacher two years ago. They performed the following set:

Beautiful Dangerous (by Slash)

Don't Stop (by Fleetwood Mac)

Don't Stop Me Now (by Queen)

The second group is a Three Piece Band formed by 2 of the members of the rock band this year with a different bass player. They played:

Sunshine Of Your Love (by Cream)

All Right Now (by Free)

Bad Penny (by Rory Gallagher)

My Generation (by The Who)

The Sax Quartet was formed by Emily Savage our Sax/clarinet teacher. They played the following programme at Fakenham Library in the afternoon for National Make Music Day:

Symphonic Suite from Star Trek

Cinerama

Manzanillo Mambo

Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue

Ain't She Sweet

Someone To Watch Over Me

Party

Thursday 11 July the Concert Band performed in Fakenham Market Place for the opening of the Fakenham Heritage Trial. The band were watched by a big crowd and received raptuous applause after performing:

The Phantom of the Opera

Scheherazade

Eighties Flashback

The next day saw our Summer Concert. The hall was almost full with parents, staff and siblings. The following ensembles performed:

Junior Band

Concert Band

Big Band

Sax Quartet

Flute Trio

String Ensemble

Advanced Strings

Rock Band

Choir

With solos from Kaira Bundock(Sax), Max Wright (violin) and Piper Alexander (Voice). The big finale was a performance of Mr Blue Sky with all the concert performers on stage plus some of the members of High School Musical. The concert was a raging success and all students performed brilliantly.

With thanks to all of the performers at all of our events, and of course our Peripatetic music teachers and to Mr Willis for all of their work with our wonderful students!
