North Norfolk Christmas Market - Saturday 5th November 2016
Saturday 5th November 2016 saw the 20th and probably final North Norfolk Christmas Market. This annual event has over many years attracted people from all over the local area. Yet again we had sellers from a range of areas including woodworkers, card makers, jewellery makers etc. Fakenham Academy had their annual stall selling chocolate to raise money for their Year 11 Prom. A successful tombola was supported by parents and students who provided prizes in exchange for a non-uniform day at the Academy and there was a raffle with many prizes kindly donated by local businesses. The event raised over £1250 for the Friends of Fakenham Academy who use the money to purchase items that the Academy would not normally buy - such as additional science equipment to measure wave patterns and gravity, new music stands for concerts and equipment for Catering.
Sadly this was the final year of this event as over the past few years the number of traders has dwindled as many are finding the costs of insurance too high. Many thanks though to all the traders, parents, students and staff of current and former years who had made this event such a success for the past 20 years or so.
