Fakenham College students on course to raise record amount for their chosen charity On a sunny Friday morning a group of Year 12 students from Fakenham College set off on their annual sponsored walk to raise money for their chosen charity for the year - The Big C. The day got off to a brilliant start when it was announced that a total of £755.30 had been collected from the students assembled in the canteen, With some sponsorship money still to be handed in, this is a fantastic effort from everyone who participated. Each amount raised will make a difference, no matter how small. There were some stunning achievements, with 5 students raising a total of over £300 between them and two individual contributions of over £80. The weather couldn’t have been kinder as students and staff made their way through the west norfolk countryside. Once safely across the bypass, we headed for Walsingham, finding our way with the help of maps and a detailed set of instructions. Passing the slipper chapel was a reassuring landmark and the shops at Walsingham a welcome provider of refreshments. As the temperature warmed up and feet began to ache, a spirit of camaraderie took over, with students determined to reach their goal - the end of the 11 mile walk. By 2pm everyone had arrived at Wells safely, where there was time for a well earned rest before heading back to college - this time by coach. Well done to everyone who participated with such good humour and your fantastic fund raising efforts.
