On Friday 24th March a group of Year 12 students were given the unique opportunity to be involved in the design of the new Sixth Form building at the Field Lane site. During our one and a half hour meeting with Rob Ruffles, an architect involved in the process, we were able to view samples of flooring, wall and ceiling paint to help us to decide upon the colour scheme for the new building. Whilst progress was initially slow, we soon got into our stride and toured the building with Rob, which was helpful when considering the effect of existing factors, such as lighting, on our choices. The new Sixth Form study area will have warm wood effect flooring and burnt orange walls, whilst the canteen will be painted in a cool green to blend in with its grey wood effect floor. Aquamarine was chosen as the wall colour for classrooms, whilst the main corridor will be painted a mustard yellow. We hope that everyone likes the scheme as much as we do and look forward to seeing it for real in September.
