DoE Expedition—Derbyshire

Our week doing our Duke of Edinburgh practice in Derbyshire was both tiring and rewarding because while standing at the bottom of some of the peaks we had to climb, a lot of us weren’t convinced that we could make it to the top.  However, once we reached the top, there was a great sense of achievement along with the beautiful views in Derbyshire, which were even nicer due to the hot weather that we got on the last two days. Probably out of the three days the hardest element of our walk was scrambling up the side of Kinder with 15kg bags on our back then having to scramble back down a waterfall.  This was definitely the point at which our group started working effectively together as a team, when we began to recognise that helping others who were struggling made something    difficult become more enjoyable.
