Year 6 Study Days

There are a series of different subject specific days where year 6 students from our feeder schools have the opportunity to come to the Academy and try out various subjects and meet other students from feeder schools and also staff from Fakenham Academy.  In 2014/15 we offered the following opportunities:

  • Textiles – students had the opportunity to come and create their own project.
  • Food – students had the chance to spend a day cooking.
  • Resistant Materials – students had the chance to create their own project.
  • Modern Foreign Languages – students had the chance to learn of the language and culture of other countries.
  • Students had the chance to visit to the Walsingham Shrine.
  • Students had the chance to relive history by way of an Evacuee experience on the North Norfolk railway.
  • Students were able to study Geography by way of a  trip to the North Norfolk Coast,
  • Stock Market challenge - students were given the chance to use their skills in collaboration with the Maths department.
  • Creative writing day - the English department gave students the chance to put their writing skills to the test.
  • Game design  - a day of ICT and creative skills in collaboration with the ICT department
  • Sculpture making day - students had the chance to work with a visiting artist who came in and showed how to create sculptures and then allowed the students to create their own.
  • Music Band day - students had the chance to play their instruments and be conducted in a band and then perform for parents and friends at the end of the day.
