Here at the Friends we thought it would be a good idea to tell you a little bit about ourselves and what we do. The Friends have been in existence for many years and over that time have changed many times. The activities of the Friends has always been up to the Friends themselves to decide what to do and as people have come and gone these events have also changed.
In its current form there are a group of 6-10 people who put on a number of activities to raise money for the Academy. In the past year these events have been a Christmas Market, Bingo, a car boot sale and a quiz. Each event is held at the School and supported well by the Headteacher and staff. For 2017 we will probably be having a quiz, a couple of Bingo nights and maybe a couple of Indoor Car Boot sales. As the work is shared by all it is a job that has great satisfaction and does not take up too much time. A bit of fun in a relaxed atmosphere making money for the school to help them buy the extras that make a good education a great one for our children.
In the past year we have raised over £2500 and this has helped the school buy: new hall curtains and chairs, badminton rackets and grips, a Computer Aided Design sewing machine, music stands, dynamic trolleys for science [apparently for measuring forces?]. Over the next year we are looking to raise money for extra high jump mats to help budding Olympians, laptops, smartphones and lots more.
If you are interested in joining up or even just to come along and take part in one of the events then please either contact the school directly or email to firstname.lastname@example.org - We don’t bite!!!!!
